Celeste Koerhuis

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida with experience working in mental health programs with a variety of people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Most of my clinical background includes working with people who have been exposed to traumatic experiences by helping them understand the connection between trauma and their emotional and behavioral responses and assisting them in learning and implementing coping skills to manage trauma-related distress. I also help people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, interpersonal issues and life transitions, who need help managing life's challenges, and who aspire to improve their sense of well-being. I'm also a Catholic-Christian therapist that believes in the importance of addressing both spiritual and emotional aspects of a person's wellbeing. I can provide counseling from a Christian lens to those clients that wish to integrate their faith, values, and beliefs, in their therapeutic journey.

My approach includes cultivating a strong therapeutic alliance, where my goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space in which we can work collaboratively to achieve therapeutic goals. I will also focus on helping you improve self-awareness and self-understanding so you can start living the life you really want. My goal is to help you discover how to overcome the obstacles that prevent you from achieving a sense of overall well-being, meaning, and peace.

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where I obtained a bachelor's degree in psychology from the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón. I moved to Miami, FL for graduate school and earned a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Miami. I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish and can provide therapy to people who live throughout the State of Florida.
